Bryant Giles x Anti Social Social Club: A Fusion of Art and Streetwear

In a vibrant collision of artistry and street fashion, Anti Social Social Club (ASSC) has once again pushed creative boundaries with its latest collaboration. Teaming up with Los Angeles-based visual artist Bryant Giles, renowned for his surrealist paintings and founder of the ready-to-wear brand Gone Homme, the collaboration unveils a cartoonish collection that seamlessly merges Giles' distinctive artistic vision with ASSC's iconic streetwear silhouettes.

The Artist Series, a hallmark of ASSC collaborations, welcomes Bryant Giles as its newest guest. Giles, celebrated for his surrealist paintings showcased in the 2021 exhibition "Shattered Glass," now translates his painterly works into a wearable canvas. The focal point of this collaboration is Giles' upcoming animated series, "Mr. Guy," a universe of characters that take center stage in his artwork.

Speaking about the collaboration, Giles shared insights into the creative process: “For the collection, we really tried to encapsulate Mr. Guy’s Universe, a collection of characters which figure prominently in my artwork. I also wanted to tie in worldly influences, especially Japan, where we shot the campaign and where I am currently working on new artwork."

The essence of Mr. Guy's Universe is captured across an array of streetwear staples, including short and long-sleeved tees, polos, crewnecks, hoodies, fleece shorts, wide-leg sweatpants, hats, and socks. The color palette spans from eye-catching lime green to vivacious pink, reflecting what ASSC describes as "a fusion of the Bryant Giles and Anti Social Social Club emotional spectrum."

Noteworthy in this collection are the elevated finishes applied to several styles, incorporating garment-dying, tie-dyeing, and embroidery techniques. These meticulous details add depth and individuality to each piece, emphasizing the craftsmanship and attention to detail synonymous with both ASSC and Bryant Giles' artistic endeavors.

Giles further elaborated on the inspiration behind the characters featured in the collection: “We wanted to capture the same vibrancy and expression in the characters we chose: Everyday people I encounter and am inspired by, the very same people I’d like to see wearing the collection.”

This connection between art and the everyday human experience creates a unique synergy, making the collection not just a fashion statement but a celebration of individuality and creativity.

As the boundaries between art and fashion continue to blur, collaborations like the one between Bryant Giles and Anti Social Social Club exemplify the power of creative partnerships in bringing unique, expressive pieces to the forefront of streetwear culture. The result is a collection that not only pays homage to Giles' artistic universe but also invites wearers to become a part of the vibrant, animated world of Mr. Guy.
